Sally Ann Babbs & Charity details:
Sally Ann Babbs was born on 6th June 1954 in London and moved to Reigate in 1980’s to bring up her two children Alice and Tom, She was married to Tony and lived in the South Park area whilst living in Reigate.Sally was an extremely friendly and outgoing person and was very much part of the community helping out the local schools in the classroom and school fetes. Sally was regularly found on the side lines of local football pictures cheering her son Tom on and her favourite phase being “turn and face” even though she had no idea what it meant. That wasn’t Sallys first experience of football, with her first experience was Tony taking her Stamford Bridge to see his beloved Chelsea and Sally falling asleep in the August sunshine after a couple of Gin & Tonics.Sally eventually become a Chelsea fan and her favourite player being Ruud Gullit.

Unfortunately Sally never got to see the the success Chelsea have had over the last decade as Sally sadly and suddenly passed away on 20th April 2005. Sally passed away from a stroke caused by a brain tumour. Sally has been sadly missed by friends, family and loved ones over the last decade and will continue to be missed.

Since that sad day Sallys family, friends and loved ones have supported a charity which helped them through those very tough days, weeks and months following Sallys passing. That charity being the Stroke Association. The charity was formed in 1992 and it works to prevent strokes and supports people touched by a stroke, funds research and campaigns for the rights of stroke survivors. Website –

The purpose of the charity fundraising football match is to pay our respects to Sally, celebrate her life and raise as much money as possible for the Stroke Association. In order to do this Sallys family and friends have worked hard to organise donations from local and national companies and will be raffling and auctioning a number of prizes off on the day with all money raised being donated to the Stroke Association. They have also set up a just-giving page where donations can be made online at
