Reigate Priory hosted TD Shipley of the West Sussex Premier League on Saturday 18th August at Netherne Sports Ground and went one nil down after just five minutes when Ben Wilson beat debutant goalkeeper; Josh Crawford to the ball to turn into an empty net; Crawford’s debut was cut short when he limped off moments later and was replaced by regular number one; Mark Halsey. Priory equalised on the quarter hour mark when Joe Charles skilfully and accurately guided the ball just inside the post from just inside the box. The sides went into the break level. Priory came out of the blocks fastest and moved the ball swiftly to the delight of manager Dale Wyatt and their slick passing and movement was soon rewarded with Ollie Rose scoring a powerful header from a corner. Alex Frullini added the third with a close range header at the far post. Ollie Rose added a fourth and the teenager rounded off his hattrick with a sublime diving header late on. Priory may have scored more, but Joe Charles failed to convert when one on one with the Shipley goalkeeper. The Reigate side’s dominance was only marred by a late consolation goal; Josh Wells slotting past Halsey from close range after intercepting a risky pass from Kyle Jordan at left back to Dave McLaughlan at centre back. A great performance and result for Priory with several players unavailable and some very strong performances from players coming into the first team.
