Reigate Priory hosted Westminster Casuals on Saturday at their second home ground; Netherne Community Amateur Sports Club. Despite being the better team for most of the first half, they found themselves two nil down at half time, conceding two goals within the space of a few minutes just after the half hour mark. Firstly Jonny Cardy, found himself unmarked, to head home from close range and David Maunsell double Westminster’s lead with an accurate low drive into the bottom corner through a crowded box after Priory failed to properly clear the ball from a corner. Assistant Coach, Andy Whittall was sent off for dissent and the Reigate side’s misery may have been compounded had they gone further behind before the break, a smart double save from Priory goalkeeper Mark Halsey preventing this. Priory pulled a goal back midway through the second half when Bradley Johnson received a short corner and clipped a cross to the far post that Dave McLaughlin headed in. But just as Priory seemed to be in the ascendency, they gave away a contentious corner and whilst they protested at the referee failed to pick up men and allowed Chris Powell a free header which he powered in from seven yards. Westminster also hit the crossbar with a 25 yard strike late on and held on for three points. This Saturday, Reigate Priory are at home (Park Lane, Reigate) to Oxted & District in the League Cup.
