On Saturday Reigate Priory hosted last year’s title winners Old Rutlishians at Park Lane and found themselves in for a tough match early on. The visitors went ahead after fifteen minutes when the league’s leading goalscorer Chris Beard swivelled and finished neatly in the corner from inside the box, moments later their lead was doubled when Zak Graham picked out the top corner with a superb powerful drive from just outside the box. Things got worse for the Reigate side when Duncan Fraser headed in from a corner to make it three on the half hour mark. But Priory fought back and earned a penalty which was coolly dispatched by Alex Frullini and moments later in the dying seconds of the first half Priory were awarded another penalty. This time responsibility was given to Max Roberts who calmly sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to reduce the deficit to 2-3 at the break. Priory were fast out of the blocks in the second half and pulled level within ten seconds of the re-start when a long ball into the box was taken down by Alex Frullini who finished from a narrow angle for his fifth goal of the season. However a quick clever freekick on the hour mark saw Zak Graham get behind the wall and smash past Halsey in the home goal for his second of the game, putting his side 4-3 up. With fifteen minutes remaining, Priory failed to clear from a corner which enabled Chris Beard to finish from close range grabbing his second of the game and seventh of the season to seal a 5-3 victory for Old Rutlishians. The result leaves Reigate Priory at the bottom of the division and they visit Forestdale at Warlingham this Saturday.
