REIGATE Priory hosted Claygate Royals in the Surrey South Eastern Senior League Cup at Park Lane on Saturday and should’ve taken an early lead but Ben Varley failed to capitalise from close range after a corner and shortly after James Long’s header lacked sufficient power to beat the goalkeeper. Level at the break, Priory had a good chance early in the second half when Callum Johnson broke clear but the keeper came out on top of the one on one situation. A missed Royals penalty and a string of fine saves from the returning Mark Halsey kept Priory in the game but the deadlock was finally broken with James Pendill crashing in a shot off the post from close range and adding a second moments later in injury time with a close range header sealing Claygate’s passage to the next round. Final Score: Reigate Priory 0 Claygate Royals 2.
